If you have severe dehydration because of injury, illness, surgery, or a medical condition, you may be at risk of developing a potentially life-threatening condition. These patients may have been or will be candidates for Lasix treatment. In this case series of patients, we reviewed the clinical, laboratory, and histologic response to the treatment. We also reviewed the possible role of Lasix in this patient. The trial has not been done with other types of drugs, but the patients with hypovolaemia and hypogonadism have been treated with this combination for the past 3 months. This has been confirmed by clinical trials. The clinical trials have shown that the drug is effective in patients with a normal blood potassium level and a normal level of urine output. There is a lack of randomized controlled trials of this combination. In addition, the current study has demonstrated the potential of Lasix to improve outcomes in patients with hypovolaemia or hypogonadism.

ABSTRACT The primary objective of this study was to determine the effects of Lasix on renal function in patients with hypovolaemia or hypogonadism, as assessed by a simple urine glucose assay. The clinical trial was conducted at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Alabama. The study protocol was published in the November 2002 issue. The primary end point was serum potassium level. In the secondary end point, serum creatinine level, and the clinical trial end point, the patients were evaluated for serum potassium, renal function, and urine output, as well as the response to Lasix.
